The province of British Columbia recognizes Naturopathic Physicians as primary care providers. Additionally, naturopathic medicine has been a designated health profession in the Health Professions Act since January 1st, 2000.

The regulatory body created for the oversight of naturopathic physicians is the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia.

Above all, since 1936, naturopathic medicine has been a regulated profession under British Columbia legislation. Although before its designation under the Health Professions Act, the regulation of the profession fell under the former Naturopaths Act.
